Horse Of A Different Colour
A lifelong maker, Horse of a Different Colour was first imagined on a rainy childhood holiday to Cornwall. Backdropped by a dream wardrobe of Fiorucci, Benetton and LA Gears, my cousin Ailish and I spent hours drawing designs and carried on swapping sketches by pen letter long after the holiday had ended. At the time we took the name from the colour shifting horse in the Wizard of Oz's Emerald City. While designing the first collection I stumbled across the letters and drawings we had sent to each other as children and was drawn to the naivety and energy of the designs and the meaning of the phrase - "an incidentally related matter with distinctly different significance"
To me the name represents freedom of imagination, the joy of expressing creativity through dress and the beauty of individuality ♡
H-O-A-D-C is the name abbreviated to its initials and it's these letters you'll find jumping around the Alphabetti print found across the collections and in the lining of all my tailored pieces
